Teenage English is a workshop on how teenagers communicate. It’s a one and only chance to cover some slang and expressions that signal one’s belonging to a certain age group, ethnic group, social class or subculture. We will see what the difference is between words like mate, pal, buddy, blood, bruv; look at some YouTube examples and get engaged in reproducing and acting out teenage conversations together or in pairs. Last but not least, there will also be some time left for text speech i.e. language used in msn, facebook, all online chat etc…

The New Year isn’t just about what you do on New Year’s eve it’s also about a whole host of other celebrations that span the first month of the year, January. Celebrations which also come from the various different cultures around the British Isles and come under different names from different languages, and in this workshop we will embark on both.

Let’s get a closer look at Britain! Students will get a more detailed view on the predominate sub-cultures of Britain; what makes a Eastie differ to Poolie? Or a Scouser to a Cockney? With Richie we’ll play around with the different accents and slang terms used around the British Isles, and take a closer look at the cultural differences too. This is a great workshop to help students prepare of their first trip to Britain!

G’day all! Well the 2016 National Australia Day is nearly on us, so let’s embrace it! Richie will bring students on a cultural tour of East coast Australia and across the Aussie’s outback.
