Opis:

The New Year isn’t just about what you do on New Year’s eve it’s also about a whole host of other celebrations that span the first month of the year, January. Celebrations which also come from the various different cultures around the British Isles and come under different names from different languages, and in this workshop we will embark on both.

We will enjoy the singing and dancing of Scottish Hogmanay, with „Auld Lang Syne” and learn the correct Scottish way to do it. We will step back in time and find out about some of the older traditions since disappeared to welcome the New Year, many crazy and bizarre but no less fun; the cow and cake to predict the future, white rabbit and first footing.

We will then move to some of the saints’ days like St Agnes and the Welsh St Dwynwen to see alternatives for Valentines with love spoons and seeing your husband of the future. Then there will be some simply silly fun with shaving foam and crisps. What more could you want to begin the year.

Prowadzenie:

Simeon Wren pochodzi z Manchesteru w północnej Anglii, ale mieszka i pracuje w Bielsku-Białej. W 2001 roku skończył studia aktorskie na Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama w Glasgow. Po studiach, zajmował się pracą w teatrze i telewizji oraz grał w sztukach szekspirowskich w przedstawieniach wystawianych przez teatry w Szkocji. W międzyczasie zdobył kwalifikacje uniwersytetu w Cambridge do nauczania języka angielskiego i od pięciu lat pracuje jako nauczyciel. Dla NaukiBezGranic realizuje warsztaty i przedstawienia dla dzieci i młodzieży.
