Dear Colleagues,

at the Teacher Training College in Wrocław (NKJO)
room 118
ul. Skarbowców 8a, 53-025 Wrocław

for a series of 3 workshops (6 hours)

by Judit Fehér

1/ Speaking Aids
In this workshop, we will do speaking activities aided by little things such as small objects, colours, pictures, post-it notes or the walls of the classroom. We will discuss how these small things may help learners to express their thoughts and feelings and what different uses they can be put to. Topics will range from primary to secondary and from beginners to intermediate with exercise types easily adaptability to different ages and levels.

2/ Increasing Individual Involvement in a Large Class
Most studying takes place in a group. Learning, however, happens in the individual, whose involvement in the learning process is the most crucial condition of their learning. If studying takes place in a large class, there is an increased danger of losing some of the students in the learning process at any given time. One way to minimise this is to organise classroom activities carefully, making sure that some sort of individual participation in the process will be needed from all the learners. In this workshop, I would like to show you some techniques in constructing and organising activities for maximum individual involvement. Each activity template will be demonstrated by concrete examples.

3/ Co-operation in a Large Class
The ability to co-operate is a key competence for anyone who plans to join the workforce of the 21st century. Co-operation is also essential for language learning since it makes communication in the classroom meaningful and purposeful. People co-operate most naturally in smaller groups but groups do not get functional only by assigning people to participate in them. There are co-operative skills group members need to have before they can contribute to group work activities to their full potential. In this workshop, I would like to give you tips on introducing group work into your classes: what steps to take, what co-operative skills to get your learners to practise and how.
