A super-intensive day packed with ideas and practical tips on new technologies, gadgets, and media: what are their real benefits, and what are the (un)real threats for us as language teachers and educators? What sort of stimulation are they offering to our learners and how can we – as teachers – make use of them? And to what extent does this all change the language that we teach? Can we use them to make our learners more cross-culturally aware? How can we truly promote the so-called intercultural competence?

Come and find out from our distinguished speakers how to interweave culture and technology with successful speaking tasks and non-trivial writing practice:

Alan Pulverness, representing British Council Poland, on identity, being British, and cultural differences – with examples from film, TV and modern prose fiction

Ruth Cherrington, a British Council Poland speaker, on the world of young technology, particularly the internet and mobile phones, and its young users

Piotr Steinbrich, a key DOS-TTS trainer, on how cross-cultural awareness can add to the learners’ communicative competence

Małgorzata Zdybiewska, speaking on behalf of DOS-TTS, on how to turn culture-sensitive issues into motivating, successful activities and class sequences

Geoff Tranter, representing TELC, on how we can help our learners recognize, appreciate and perhaps even create humour as a valuable part of language learning.
