Naszym celem jest pokazanie, co zmieni się już wkrótce w Państwa codziennej pracy z dziećmi i jak skutecznie stawić czoła nowym realiom, mając do dyspozycji kurs Bugs World, następcę rewelacyjnie przyjętej serii Bugs, w tym zwłaszcza dwa zeszyty ćwiczeń do każdej części podręcznika, umożliwiające pracę zarówno z sześcio-, jak i siedmiolatkami. Ponadto w 4 miastach (Lublinie, Katowicach, Sopocie i Warszawie) zaprezentujemy szereg pomysłów na uatrakcyjnienie pracy z dziećmi mając na uwadze ich wszechstronny rozwój. Podkreślimy znaczenie korelacji treści międzyprzedmiotowych oraz zagadnień kulturowych w nauczaniu języka obcego.
A learning-friendly guidebook
It’s certainly true that no coursebook can ever hope to address all possible needs of every learner under the sun. And yet most learners still see their English textbook as an indispensable guidebook on their journey through the foreign land of the language they are studying. Naturally, for a coursebook to be a guidebook, it needs to be relevant, well-organized and easy to follow.
In this practical session I will offer some guidance on how to make creative and imaginative use of coursebook material in order for it to guide a variety of language learners.

In particular, I am going to focus on how to make the material personal and meaningful for the learner, as well as how to create a friendly environment for self-study and self-evaluation in the upper-primary classroom.
Revise or perish!
By the time you finish reading this abstract you’ll probably have forgotten its beginning. And how much will you remember tomorrow? You may remember the gist of it, but you probably won’t be able to recall all or even most of the details. It’s quite similar with our students. Even if they pay attention during the lesson, they will have forgotten most of it by the next day. The answer to this problem is simple: revise, revise, revise!
In the course of this session we are going to look at the relationship between learning and remembering, and to explore the factors that make the learner forget what he/she’s learnt. We’ll sample a number of practical ideas for recycling the new language, going beyond the obvious, i.e. grammar and vocabulary. Expect to leave with a bag of tried and tested activities, ready to use the next day.
Beyond words: on rediscovering working with texts
New Matura has been around for some time and it has changed a few things, one of them being surely the shift of focus from teaching as such to exam training. We use the word Matura in nearly every lesson. Every task seems to be Matura-oriented and we never tire of drilling the exam techniques.

Consequently, reading lessons are all about skimming and scanning – useful techniques for the exam itself, but not responding to the needs of students who really want to understand the text and simply enjoy reading it. After all, in real life we often read for pleasure and not to find out someone’s age, their dog’s name, or what the weather was like two paragraphs before!
In this session I will invite the participants to take a look at a number of fresh, varied texts - interesting in their own right. More importantly, we will take a fresh look at the pedagogy of working with a piece of text in a foreign language. Specifically, I’ll show you how to rediscover working with the language of the text. Come and get plenty of fresh ideas that may stop you from starting the lesson with the M word again!
