What are learners tested on in the new gimnazjum exam? How can we help them prepare effectively for what they will meet in the exam room? Answers to these questions and more will be considered in this session, along with a look at how we can keep parents informed as to what is going on in the exam preparation classroom. The session will aim to show that exam preparation can be effectively balanced with continual language and skills development in an engaging, motivating and ‘teen-friendly’ way.

• How can we help them with techniques and strategies to overcome these areas of difficulty?
This highly practical session will aim to answer these two questions and equip teachers with some useful classroom approaches that will steer our learners towards success in the exam.

Taking an exam is a little like going to dentist. It's smart to do but thought not to be very pleasant. When students hear about exams, they almost always react negatively: "another exam, I can't be bothered".

Even though exams are inevitably connected with stress, sweaty palms and waves of nausea, quite a few people are willing to go through this perceived painful process of preparation, revising and sitting the exam. Pearson has recently introduced a new examination that is known as The London Tests of English (LTE) -designed to allow students to show how well they can use English. What advantages does this style of exam present both students and teachers of English? Why do people who decide to take exams (and pay for them) learn English faster, better and more efficiently? Can exams be used to help our students become more successful learners, smarter and more successful people?
