The gimnazjum exam is the first ‘serious’ exam that our learners encounter, and it falls in the middle of a number of stages of transition – transition from child to teenager; transition from primary to high school – and transition from simple tests to more demanding exams. So what will our learners need if they are going to maximise their chances of success? This highly practical session will attempt to answer this question, and will consider ways of integrating language development, exam practice and exam strategy as they gear up for
a new challenge in their learning career.

Learners seem to be au fait with the matura in English with their performance being satisfactory, to say the least.

However, while observing their performance in the actual exam, it becomes clear that some aspects of English, especially those that appear useful and relevant outside the exam context need brushing up by consistent exposure and practice. In this session we will identify those elements and offer ways to draw learners’ attention to such items that will boost their exam performance and develop overall language competence.
