Is building bridges between what teenagers want and what they have to learn easy? It may be, if we sneak into their reality and use their worlds of thought and experience as a fertile source of motivating and involving ideas for teaching.

Employing knowledge about the latest gadgets or fashionable accessories in our lessons, we can encourage our students to respond with their real thoughts, rather than just answer questions and do abstract learning activities. How can we use this resource and at the same time ensure we provide genuinely thorough preparation for the matura exam?
In this session we will address issues related to the interests and lifestyle of teenagers and discuss the implications they bring to our teaching and, with the aid of Real Life, a new coursebook from Pearson Longman, we will see how we can meet the needs of both students and teachers in the modern classroom.

Prezentacja dla nauczycieli szkół gimnazjalnych i ponadgimnazjalnych
How nice it would be if our students could simply download and save vocabulary perfectly in their brains instead of memorising it! How does digital reality influence how language is processed in the classroom and what are its consequences for us as language teachers? How can we adapt different teaching techniques - traditional and digital - to fit the multitasking and interactive nature of our students? Specifically, how can we make learning lexis more memorable and relevant for them?
In this talk we will focus on the importance of vocabulary in developing language skills, as well as in preparing students for exams in lower and upper secondary. This session will provide practical ideas and tips for building vocabulary in analogue and digital contexts.
