Britain: Quirky Customs and Traditions. Being English, Mandy Sibson is used to all the weird and wonderful, sometimes dangerous and unexplainable, customs and traditions, especially coming from a very old English village. She’s always amazed how tourists perceive the British wacky ways, and she has listed 10 of her personal favourites, ones that she has the experience of. In her workshop she will explain how they are connected with daily life and will encourage participation from the students (where possible) to experience a ‘Taste of English Customs’.
The top tens include: Guy Fawkes (Bonfire) Night, Sunday lunch and high tea or just ‘teatime’, Gurning, The village Fete (including Maypole and Morris dancing), Pantomimes, Conkers, Christmas and New year, Cheese Rolling, Pearly Kings and Queens and Worm charming

Prowadzenie:
Mandy Sibson mieszka w Vigo, małej miejscowości niedaleko Gravesend, w Kent. Jest mężatką, ma dwóch dorosłych synów oraz 19 rodzeństwa. Mieszka w małym domu z psem, dwoma kotami, trzema pająkami, dwom skorpionami i rybkami. Edukacją zajmuje się od 19 lat, pracując z młodzieżą głuchoniemą, oraz ucząc języka angielskiego. Jako nauczyciel angielskiego pracowała w Concord International School oraz w Nauczycielskim Kolegium Językowym w Radomiu. Mówi po niemiecku, hiszpańsku, norwesku i potrafi porozumiewać się w języku migowym. Mieszkała dużo za granicą. Interesuje się muzyka, lubi czytać, pływać, tanczyć salsę, robić biżuterię. Uczy się grać na saksofonie. Mówi o sobie: ‘I’m a great believer in all things English, including all our weird and wacky customs and traditions. Coming from an area steeped full of history, including the Charles Dickens Festival, I can’t help getting involved and love every minute of it!. I enjoy teaching English, it’s my passion and find it exciting, exhilarating and fascinating, making sure my lessons are always interesting, motivational and inspirational, but most of all FUN!’.
