10.00 – 11.10 Mądra zabawa to podstawa!

W co, po co i jak się bawić na zajęciach języka angielskiego w klasach 1–3?!
Zabawa uczy. To prawda – ale czy każda? I czy każda w równym stopniu? Czy lekcja angielskiego staje się automatycznie lepsza wtedy, gdy dzieciaki
więcej się bawią...? Jak potrzebę zabawy uzasadnić ważnym dorosłym: dyrektorowi szkoły (którego być może drażni hałas na angielskim...), rodzicom (którzy być może woleliby poważną naukę gramatyki od pierwszej klasy...), a może też samym sobie (choć może nie do końca lubimy leżenie z dziećmi na dywanie czy przebieranie się za śmieszne stwory...)?
Na takie właśnie superważne pytania odpowiadamy w tej superpraktycznej sesji. Minimum teorii, maksimum sprawdzonych, autorskich pomysłów na to, w co się bawić na angielskim, ile się bawić i jak się bawić, żeby ta zabawa miała jasny cel językowy i ogólnorozwojowy, żeby naprawdę
angażowała dzieciaki, a jednocześnie pomagała uczyć języka! Nauczysz się, jak dobierać gry i zabawy, aby tworzyć mądre, skuteczne i angażujące lekcje języka angielskiego dla najmłodszych, bazując przede wszystkim na znakomitym podręczniku i materiałach uzupełniających.

11.30 – 12.40 Effective learning through brainy teaching – how to lay solid foundations for the
future?
Shaping young linguistic minds in upper-primary years is a major challenge for any teacher. On the one hand, 4-graders are still children. They have a great desire for fun and only begin to move away from experiencing the language holistically, toward a more analytical type of studying. On the other hand, they are embarking on a 5-year educational cycle that ends with an important exam – for which they’ll definitely need a strong linguistic ground to rely on. How can we find a golden means, to use the time we have to the full and at the same time respect their needs, capabilities and natural, developmental restrictions?
My answer in this session will be that it’s actually smart to take things slowly in the early years of upper primary teaching. The more effort we put into building a good linguistic basis, the more successful our students will be once the ‘serious’ learning begins in grades 7 and 8.
How can this be done? We’ll look at smart task design, effective revision techniques and a great deal of deep processing. Come along and learn all the practicalities.

12:50 – 14:00 Mindful teaching towards Egzamin Ósmoklasisty
The first 8th graders’ exam brought rather surprising outcome: the examinees, who unanimously considered the test to be easy, scored on average only 59 per cent … To understand this disappointing result, we definitely need an in-depth analysis of the exam. It will enable us to identify the most difficult test items and draw conclusion as to some of the major problems students had. This is what the first part of my session will
concentrate on.
But this solid analysis will only be a starting point for the second, practical part of the session. In it I’ll show how to brush up some of the most commonly used classroom techniques, to help our learners achieve better results in the years to come. I’ll argue that one of the possible, strategic approaches is to start the whole process much earlier. By doing so, we can replace a typical, intensive exam preparation, with exam-oriented
teaching, focused on accuracy, filled with slow and mindful recycling, while not giving up on communicative activities.
