• CELTA: Cambridge Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults (6 July – 31 July 2009),
• YL ext. to CELTA: Young Learner Extension to CELTA (14 September - 25 September 2009).

CELTA
Who is the course for?
This full-time four-week pre-service training qualification is intended for those without previous experience who wish to enter ELT and for teachers with some experience who have no formal training. Success in the CELTA has enabled many candidates to obtain their first teaching position and has long been considered the basic requirement for teaching English to adults in private sector schools worldwide. The course is highly regarded by employers around the world as providing sound, initial training.
Course Content
There are 3 hours of input each day followed by supervised lesson planning, teaching practice (6 hours during the whole course) and feedback on teaching practice. Participants are also required to observe experienced teachers (6 hours during the whole course). Input involves demonstration and discussion of teaching techniques and principles, evaluation of materials and language analysis. Extensive use is made of group discussion and co-operative learning. Specific course content includes:
• learners and teachers in the teaching and learning context, language analysis and awareness,
• language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing,
• planning and resources for different teaching contexts, developing teaching skills and professionalism.
This course is intensive - participants are strongly advised to have no other commitments during the program.
Assessment
Assessment is mainly by continuous assessment of teaching practice. There are also four assessed written assignments.
What will I get at the end of the course?
At the end of the course successful candidates receive a grade (Pass A, Pass B or Pass). In addition to the certificate validated by Cambridge, the centre provides an individual report on progress.

YL ext. to CELTA
Who is the course for?
This full time two-week (10 days) extension course is intended for those who have little or no previous experience of teaching young learners but have previously been awarded the CELTA. It enables to develop the skills and knowledge from your CELTA course and transfer them to the young learner teaching environment. Ideal candidates should:
• have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education,
• be aged 20 or over and have a standard of English which will enable them to teach at a range of levels.
Course content
• 50 contact hours between candidates and the course tutors including: input, tutorial support, supervised lesson planning,
• 4 hours assessed teaching practice per candidate supervised by a course tutor,
• 6 hours directed observation of live young learner lessons taught by experienced ELT professionals or four hours observation of live lessons plus two hours observation of lessons on video,
• feedback on teaching practice, peer observation of teaching practice,
• 25 additional learning hours for reading, research and assignment writing and lesson preparation.
This course is intensive - participants are strongly advised to have no other commitments during the program.
Assessment
Assessment is mainly by continuous assessment of teaching practice. There are also two assessed written assignments.
What will I get at the end of the course?
Successful candidates are issued with an endorsement certificate confirming the additional award of the Young Learner extension.
