4th IATEFL Poland ESP SIG Conference: "Practical Training Strategies in the ESP Classroom" - January 2017

English for Specific Purposes is becoming more and more diversified in order to meet specific language needs in professional and academic contexts, and in view of the workplace-oriented nature of ESP, there needs to be great emphasis on practical teaching approaches. This is the background to the 4th IATEFL Poland ESP SIG Conference taking place in January 2017, which will have as its motto: “Practical Training Strategies in the ESP Classroom”.

The conference, which is aimed at ESP professionals across Europe, is intended to provide a platform that offers a comprehensive overview of current and future developments in ESP teaching, encompassing methodology, materials, media and assessment. All ESP stakeholders in further and higher education, e.g. educational establishments, teachers, teacher trainers, publishers and test providers, are invited to participate.

The first three IATEFL Poland ESP SIG conferences held in 2014, 2015 and 2016 gave practitioners the opportunity to present best-practice examples of their teaching, and proved themselves as a forum for spreading innovative ideas on materials, methods and media as well as creating networks. The aim of the 2017 conference is to take this approach a step further and concentrate on effective strategies for classroom work. To this end, the whole conference will again be available live online.
